FAQ

Where is your office located?

My office is in Franklin, in the Cool Springs area.

106 Mission Court, Suite 802 Franklin, TN 37067

What are your office hours?
My first available appointment is at 7 am, and my last time slot is 4:30 pm.
How long are your sessions?
Sessions are usually 1 hour (actually, 55 minutes). Some clients prefer 1.5 or even sometimes 2-hour sessions on occasion.
Do you take insurance?
I do not take any insurance.
How do I set up an initial appointment?
You can call, text, or email me to set up your first appointment. Or you can fill out the “make an appointment” form below. I make all my bookings, but I am almost always able to respond to you within 24 hours.
What is your cancellation policy?
I require a 24-hour notice of cancellation (except for emergencies). I will charge you for the full session if you fail to give a minimum of 24 hours’ notice.
With what age ranges do you work?

I work with adults of all ages. Occasionally, I will work with an individual in their late teens.

My approach naturally works best with adults who can process abstract concepts that require a fully developed pre-frontal lobe, which generally happens around age 21 in females and a couple of years later in males.

Do your clients receive assignments to work on between sessions?

Sometimes. Assignments vary depending on what benefits the individual or couple. Some clients rarely receive formal assignments but are always encouraged to reflect on and use the things discussed in sessions.

I am more likely to provide “recommendations” than “assignments” because this is more conducive to the dynamic I want to encourage in therapy.

What is your professional training and experience?
I received a four-year master’s degree in Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary and another two-year Master’s in Biblical Counseling from Colorado Christian University (CCU) under the direction of Dr. Larry Crabb. I also served three years on the faculty of the counseling program at CCU. I have been counseling professionally for 26 years (since 1994), 21 of those in the Nashville area.
What else does a client need to know to make the most out of working with you?
I love this question. My clients need to know that while they will experience kindness, warmth, patience, wisdom, and guidance, I will challenge them to take full responsibility for the shape of their lives, both internally and externally. Clients who benefit from counseling are ones who use a skilled therapist to help themselves.
Where did you grow up?
I moved around with my three sisters and my dog Scamper, including Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. Thus, my favorite sports teams: Sooners football, Jayhawks basketball, Dallas Cowboys, Mavericks, and Texas Rangers.
What dance do you do best?
Currently, West Coast Swing is my best – but I love them all!
What was your first guitar?
My first guitar was a Yamaha acoustic that I traded my trumpet for when I was 16 – God rest its soul—it got smashed the night before college graduation (a story less impressive than it sounds).
Why did you decide to get into counseling?
Uhhhh – long story and interesting (at least to me). Maybe I’ll tell you someday.
